You're nutz..you know that eh!? Sure do! But look at poor Joe spinning on the hook like I never left! So far he's blowing off about speaking Spanish and boxing in the service! Joe's a hoot! The poor guy is STILL talking about buying the right boat and meanwhile I'm enjoying mine and his is STILL dockside! The right boat would have been the one he'd have sailed until he bought his "blue water" boat. He's the classic infinit refit story! And I'll be sailing this weekend while Joe looks for a new compass for his wheelhouse....can't set off for blue water without that "perfect" compass, right, Joe???? BWAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHA!!!!! At least Joe takes the cover off his compass when he sails . . . Wilbur Hubbard Why is that always necessary? It looks good to the lubbers, Oz. Sort of like spinning that big 6' radar scanner array when entering a marina on a clear, bright, sunny day. Max- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Max, There are good reasons to use your compass all the time. This takes a bit of knowledge and time at sea to understand the reasoning and whys. Something dumb weekend warriors and half assed day sailors like Bubbles will never understand ....until it's to late. Joe |

At least we enjoy our 35s5 and will be having a blast with her starting next week. Joe is essentially sitting in a slow houseboat with the romantic notion he's gonna sail off any second, but he never does. That is the wrong boat for that since there are more comfortable houseboats he could be living on. RB 35s5 NY I got it right, Rob. If he moved to a houseboat, he couldn't continue with his fantasy of pretending to be a sailor who had plans to go cruising. He needs the prop. CWM- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Such envy, I'm blushing. BB, you and Rob define the meaning of the header on this thread. Now run along little coward. Joe |

Thats why Suzy moved you out into the sticks.
Actually we moved here for Thomas, but then you don't know how wonderful life is with kids. Did not expect a burn, but beats the hell out of frostbite. Yeah, that skin cancer is great. Learn to use sunscreen. Unlike you Bubbles I've had about 17 yrs of constant crusing on boats worth 100 times what all your property added together cost. Uh, so? They werem't yours. I've been aboard some fine boats and yachts and now I own one that's perfect for us. Maybe someday you can do the same. I know you think thats the most exotic cool thing on earth, but thats because you never get more than a few miles from the dock. Sorry to say that I don't find cruising long distances exotic. I'd rather fly. As for sailing, I like a fun comfortable boat with a good turn of speed and that's what we own. You own a heavy slow tub of a motorsailor that never leaves the dock. Hell my wife has a 100 ton ocean operators ticket, which is about 100 times the sea time you have ever seen bubble boy. I'm sure we're all very impressed with your time at sea, but wasn't that your job? My cheap flaoting hotel is worth more than that cheapo dime a dozen boat your wife owns. And will outlast it, and out sail it. Worth more? I dunno. Finding a buyer for your boat could be tough. As for sailing performance, stop it already. If you know anything about boats you know full well my boat outpoints, outruns and outsails your tub in everything but very heavy weather. Yeah, you have been restoring that Limey junker for 5 years now. Nope, this is the second one. I made 11K on the last one. But now that I have room for more cars I want another. I'm also checking out a Lotus Elise in a few weeks. No problem bubbles, I would rather not have you envy anything I have thank you very much. Well, wish granted! Sure Bubbles what ever, better get out of ASA, Suzy's on her way home. She's downstairs in the theatre room playing with Thomas. It's a beautiful thing. You should adopt. If you do you will save a life. Think about it. RB 35s5 NY |

Sure Bobbie.
How many 500+ mile trips have you taken on any of your boats? None. How's about 200 mile trips? None. But we did a 100 miles trip up and down the sound over a week. Suzanne liked it better than I did. I prefer weekend sails and daysails. How many trips offshore? None yet, but we hope to change that next year. How many weekends ? A lot. Too many to remember in fact. I like the weekend trips. Do you have a point? RB 35s5 NY |

Max- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Unlike people that spend a quarter of a million on a car, I have no need to try to impress anyone. Everyone knows why insecure guys buy expensive cars and cigar boats. My Truck is a tool. Very thick steel unibody, zinc dipped BTW. And very low maintance cost. You could have used the " 0 " on your keyboard, guess you were afraid it would get worn out huh? A Big ZERO. How many weekends ? A lot. Too many to remember in fact. I like the weekend trips. So you stayed on the hook and away from the dock for the whole weekend? Without AC? It's a darn shame you can not remember the one, maybe 2 adventures you had. Do you have a point? You could have bought a boat like my dink to do the sailing you do, and saved Suzy 75K. After all you and BB could put on your little Capt. Hats and hang out in the yacht club to impress people just as much as your under used over priced junker sitting on the hard does. But since my dink has no BBQ it's not the type of sailboat that meets your needs. Bwahahahahahahahahah Capt. Rob ......the big ZERO. Joe RB 35s5 NY |

You barely rank a weekend warrior with your rock bashing toys Robert.
And....? Is that some sort of problem for you? I have a great kid to enjoy. He'll spend his summer sailing, swimming, in our canoe, walking on his own land and so on. If that makes me a "weekend warrior" I've got no problem with that. Thomas is a happy kid and so's his old man! RB 35s5 NY |

Absolutely correct. A slow heavy motorboat with small auxilary sails that never
leaves the dock is PERFECT for you. CWM Run along coward. Joe Seems to me that CWM made a brave and honest observation, Joe. You once claimed you were refitting your boat for major voyaging. If that had been true and you had ANY recources you'd be gone by now. I think you'll be posting here all summer and winter again and not go anywhere. As for me, I'm using my boat as we intended making weekend trips and daysails with our son. So tell up again about your plans. How's the refit going and when will you finally realize that a boat that doesn't sail at all may be the wrong boat. You've made a houseboat of the poor thing. But I'd be happy to see you sail off and stop your posting here. Then we'd all know that Joe was on his major cruise as planned! RB 35s5 NY |

If I have 5 hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend four hours sharpening the ax. Why does it bother you so much Rob, that I live aboard, race in regettas, make offshore trips, and enjoy my career so much that I'm in no rush to leave anywhere? I have my own Island, with the best views on the lake, a lovely wife, and no urgent need to take off. I can sail anytime, year round. You think I'm missing something here? As far as boat projects, I'm installing armored glass opening bronze portholes and removing the Europe style windows fore and aft. Looks great and greatly improves air circulation below, also provide an escape thru the aft cabin besides through the wheelhouse. I'll post some pictures for you when I'm finished. I love tinkering on boats, glad I do not have a long commute to my boat. Have you started removing all the spiderwebs from Suzy's boat after the long, long, cold winter storage yet? Joe RB 35s5 NY |

Finally, some truth. Bouncers: Large overwieght somewhat stupid
brutes, it takes three or four to toss a drunk and perhaps beat senseless on the way out. Not much to brag about there, in fact I'd be ashamed. A good bouncer is not looking to hit anyone or get hit by anyone. We were paid to stop trouble, usually by quickly removing a troublemaker and NOT hurting him. If a situation got bad, then we overpowered it with more coolers. Simple as that. I had very few "fights" working on the job. You're not paid to fight, hit or hurt people. When forced to fight I did what was needed to end it fast and do a minimum of damage to the other guy. Most of the time I was very good at it. The times I messed up and hurt someone; those are something to learn from so it doesn't happen again. Hey, look at that! Yet another topic Marty knows nothing about. But his comments about bouncers proves he's been mistreated by more than one. RB 35s5 NY |
