Bummer. But you still have a chance to practice some sailing tactics, if not actually sailing. Does the Suburu exceed hull speed when surfing? If you shift weight forward or aft, does it pitch differently over the dunes? Flying Tadpole wrote: The idea is not to pitch over dunes. Well, sure. At least minimize pitching, anyway. .... On slipfaces, she's supposed to steer straight down. Get sideways to the wave and she'll capsize. Is that true even when the dune height is not exceeding 2x her beam? While I know, academically, that such a small mound of sand is still technically a dune, it's the ones 25x her beam that _really_ scare the sh*t outa me. What is the Suburu's capsize screen ratio? There's only a radiator screen. And I use UHF ratio. These mass-produced vehicles are never as good as something specifically designed for the task. I'll ask Phil Bolger if he can come up with something for cruising the desert... preferably suitable for home-building, of course... He'll design a camel, I'm sure... -- Flying Tadpole ---------------------------------- http://www.soundclick.com/flyingtadpole http://music.download.com/timfatchen http://music.download.com/internetopera |
