Was Peggy's Cove the place that had the gun-powder ship exploded and
destroyed the town?

That was Halifax..... the blast destroyed half of the entire city.

Ok, you guys had the Mont Blanc, we had the Grande Camp in Texas City.
Texas city is about 20 mi S. of me. Notice ....... they both were
French named ships.

Google Halifax Explosion.... then Google Peggy's Cove.... then Google
Mahone
Bay.

http://www.woodenboatfestival.org/imgs/ps_header.jpg Like that clipper
bow, looks like a mini RedCloud hull.

Peggy's cove looks like my kind of place. Is most the fishing Lobster
fishing?

Wow sounds like fun fishing, love to hook up with a nice swordfish.
Not many people who post here know how to fish, or even talk about
fishing. Yet sailboats make the best trolling vessels on earth, I'm
rarely not trolling underway in the Gulf. We troll for King & Spanish
mackerel, Sailfish, Yellowfin & BluefinTuna, Dolphin, ling, White &
Blue Marlin.

I have a 1942 Dam Ocean 4040 on the original Dam pole. Makes Penn look
like junk.

Joe

Joe,

Have you trolled for Tarpon? I understand that they are feeding just
north of the north jetty, within five miles of shore.

Jim

No havent went after Tarpon, but have caught a few over the years, also
called the Silver King.

Technically you should show an anchor ball, right?

If the holding is good and you're only going to be
there a
short time, and
it's during the day, you don't need an anchor

light,
and
you don't need to
keep a watch. Why two anchors? Is the bottom that

lousy
or
the wind/current
shifting that much? How did you deploy?

I wasn't thinking of using it at sea. What I had

in
mind
was anchoring
behind Red Fish Island, with two anchors, and

taking a
nap. I have one on
my Garmin chartplotter, but I think I need a

backup.

What's a good but inexpensive portable GPS that
includes an anchor alarm?

Jim

Any magellian GPS will work and show movement.

If you are on anchor or stopped at sea you need
someone
on watch. No if
and or butts about it.

Weather you are on anchor or tied to a rig

someone
needs to be awake
and on watch.

That doesn't

Indeed they do...not a job I'd wan't to deal

Pays pretty good.
High burnout average and turnover. I bet it's

high

Top

IMO Rob should publish that best seller, or

direct
a

provide Suzy with a less stressfull life.

Well they hang in the flosum lines, good fighters, full of worms.
We let em go, like I said we never go after Tarpon but have hooked a
few.
Also have caught at least 100 trigger fish and never fish for them
either.
