Giving bad directions have nothing to do with breeding or intelligence. Inbreeding, perhaps, and it certainly has something to do with being observant. Or maybe Canadians just don't get around much. Nah, I've gotten terrible directions from PhDs. And, I've gotten great directions from near illiterates. Great example of the latter... A friend was trying to give me directions to his cabin in the woods near Tahoe. The basic highway and major roads stuff was easy, but since it was winter time, none of the house numbers were visible. His directions included the line, "When you see a house that looks like it needs a fence, make a right." So, my then girlfriend and I were driving along, and we see this house that looks like it needs a fence. We make the right. The next set of directions say that the house we're supposed to be at has a sign in the front, but the sign is too small for the house. We discover that there are a dozen real estate signs on the street. So, we keep going. Eventually, we see a house with a very tiny sign in front. We pulled into the driveway. No one was home, and he had told us to climb in one of the windows, because he might be late and didn't have a key (don't ask). So, we find an open window, climb in and wait. Sure enough, my friend shows up in about an hour. Of course, you have to realize we were all in our early 20s. :-) -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com |

BEFORE you come to the 7-11''. Sheesh! SBV "Jonathan Ganz" wrote in message ... In article t, Maxprop wrote: I didn't realize there was such a section. How about, "Hang a left where Joe's barn used to be."? that's a good one too. When I was a teen, at work, they sent me out to pick up some parts. The old timer truck driver was giving me directions, when he got to ''go a few blocks till you see an old woman with a German Shepherd dog on the corner, turn right there''. The shop guys busted out laughing and ribbing him. He winked and said, you'll see , Scotty. I left, cause I didn't care if I got lost as I was on the clock anyway. Sure as ****, she was there with the dog and I found the place no problem. SBV |
