No, that's not what I meant. The steering in those late 50's and

early 60's Ford
PU trucks and vans was horrible. By the time they were ten years old,

the
steering wheel had to be turned an eighth of a turn before the wheels

started to
change direction.

You can adjust the slack out. And they make these things call tie-rod
ends. Like any machine some parts wear out and must be replaced.
