Oh, that skipper. He had all the sailing skills of Capt. Neal combined
with the navigational skills of Nav and the physique of boobspit. -- Merry Christmas...... Scotty "Bell" wrote in message ... Scott Vernon wrote: What's wrong with ''skipper''? From 1988 - 1992, I sailed as Master aboard tankers ranging from 50,000 tn to 90,000 tn. The term/title, Master Mariner, had meaning to me and those I sailed with and I was damned proud to think that after all those years, sailing in various positions, including Master of limited tonnage vessels, I was finally able to apply and use the term/title after my name. Needless to say, I do not take the usage of the terms/titles Captain or Master Mariner lightly (Gawd help the idjiot that calls me "Skipper"), for I worked for many years to get to a point where I would allow MYSELF to think of myself as a Captain or Master Mariner.
