Your Boat Sucks If.....

Your boat sucks IF.....

It's PHRF is over 100 on average
It was Built before 1995
It doesn't have a genset and AC/Heating system
It doesn't have 6'5 headroom or better
It doesn't have new color radar and chartplotter
You have to take out a loan to buy it.
It doesn't come with a new dinghy and outboard
It doesn't have forward looking sonar
It doesn't have SSB, VHF and Sat Phone
It doesn't have a seperate stall shower

Does your boat qualify by meeting or exceeding these??? I employed Loco-Logic
to create the list!!!!

Donal... it's obvious that Bob is dedicated to consuming as much of the fuel
as possible that his commander in chief is liberating in Irag. He'll be
motoring as usual...95% of the time. The vessel will need a diesel genset to
power all that stuff when he decides to actually sail it. While plugged in
shoreside Bob will effectively destroy his much proclaimed energy efficency.

It's sad... truly sad....

You need at least three showers. I'd suggest dumping the
microwave. You don't need to eat more. You've already got

All except age. I'm smart enough to maintain a vessel. I do not need
new, I have the best buildt.

Are all your thruhulls Monel?
Full Keel w board?
Draft from 4.5ft to 11ft?
Hand crafted SS & Carbon fiber rigging?
Sextant?
Charts?
300 gal fuel? 1100 mile min range
175 gal water?
100HP main?
Deisel Gen?
55 ft main mast?
Mizzen mast?

A lot of times brand new boats have much less to offer than 2nd hand ones.

Are all your thruhulls Monel?

Nope, not needed or desirable... except on a metal hulles boat, maybe.

Full Keel w board?

What's desirable about a full keel w- board? Worst of both worlds...
slow, can't point, poor handling, ballast not as low...

Draft from 4.5ft to 11ft?

4.5' ?? Too deep.

Charts?

Umm, yeah.

Probably some people go sailing without charts, but I'm not one of them.

300 gal fuel? 1100 mile min range

Phooey. 450 gal and we can go 1800 miles.

175 gal water?

Watermaker?

100HP main?

135... not that we really need it. The boat would be better off IMHO
with 90 HP.

Deisel Gen?

yep.

55 ft main mast?

nope. But it's a plus IMHO, we can go under 14' air draft.

Mizzen mast?

Nope.. but I could put one on if we wanted...

Did you know that keel boats heel?

Heh!... you're talkin' to a crab crusher owner that has had my mast slap
the water both port & starboard within 30 seconds. Seems though from my
experience... the slower reaction time experienced on a solid full keel
cruiser, dampens the feeling of being overwhelmed in a strong breeze. I've
had the rail in the water on numerous occaions.....

Joe, it amazing that you could be so uneducated about boats. There are areas
where currents, winds and unique docking conditions make a bow thruster a
required item on mid size to large yachts.

Nutsy,

A stall shower on a sail boat is a damn waste of space and fresh water
supply!

It is a REAL description of what kind of sailor you really are. A real
shore power sailor. SSB radio? Why? To listen to sailors who are out to
sea? A Cellular Phone? To tell Susy what time you'll be home for
supper. (g)

A Sat Phone???? What the heck ?? Do you know how much a month it costs to
have a Sat Phone Activated ...... let's not even calc the rate per call!
Now where on the East or West Coast of the Continental US is there an area

Okay I can readily see a Sat Phone for an ocean crossing... those you can
