Yamaha F4 - 4 HP, 38 pounds

That's a superb outboard, and I'd have bought one instead of my Merc 3.3 if
the price had been anywhere in the ball park.

The extra 1 HP won't make any difference really. I doubt that it will
plane with two of you in it with 5HP and it will plane with just one
with 4Hp -especially if it's propped properly

A Porta-Bote will plane with two people and 4HP.

There is a 7 pound penalty in the Merc range for example. That's worth
having a
cleaner quieter engine that takes regular gas.

That's legitimate. What is the price difference?

120.00.

I guess I can estimate the weight of gasoline better than you estimate
windspeed. The last time you tried, I remember you being off by 25%.

Scotty Potti did NOT estimate. He claimed 25 knots sustained. You made it
pretty obvious that you were making a rough guess.
Scotty Potti is a liar.

I will admit that I did not go and weigh a gallon of gas before I
posted, even though I can afford to.

Scotty can't afford NOT to weigh a gallon of gas.

A big plus for the 4HP 4 cycle over the 5HP is that it also has an internal
tank. I wish the 5 had that.

1 gallon of gasoline equals 5.8 to 6.5 lbs.

Lets see, that means I was off by what? 19%?

More like 28% ~ 35%. Ask Jax to do the maths for you.

Well, your memory sucks. If you'd have been able to understand the
graph that Pony posted, you'd have realized I was within 10% of the
windspeed at the time I was sailing.

When that was pointed out, you defended it by whining about not

being
able to afford instruments.

Liar. Post where I wrote anything about the cost of instruments.

You can afford a gallon of gas now? Congratulations.
Are you trying to be like bob, or can't you help it?

Actually it's the other way around. Hondas are littered all over the
Pacific, Yamaha's keep running .. of course you have to be able to afford
them too. They are not a low budget item. For you I think Gamefisher would
be about right.

Yamaha can't be considered because their engines are too heavy in the

protable
range. They've focused more on their big engine technology and lag

behind
Merc/Nissan/Honda.

And my T9 with long shaft is 104 lbs. So?

Yamaha F4 - 4 HP, 38 pounds

Not for the 4 cycle, which is what I'd prefer. 4HP is 48 lbs and the 6 is

83LBs
compared to Nissan's 55.

Whats the specific gravity for diesel?

Scotty...Do you have some sort of Tankermans endorsement in the
trucking industry?

I received my tankermans endorsement the same time I sat for my AB.
It's a good course. Lots of nasty stuff that will kill you if your not
doing things correctly. I bet Donal got his along with his royal
physic yachtmasters ticket. The Irish are famous for getting loaded
with high octane fuels.

Joe

My you have variable petrol.

depends.
