Actually it's the other way around. Hondas are littered all over the
Pacific, Yamaha's keep running .. of course you have to be able to afford them too. They are not a low budget item. For you I think Gamefisher would be about right. M. "Nav" wrote in message ... yamaha don't have the 4 stroke expertise of honda. Cheers Bobsprit wrote: There is Yamaha, then there are the also rans, wanna be's, close to's, and from there it runs down hill Yamaha can't be considered because their engines are too heavy in the protable range. They've focused more on their big engine technology and lag behind Merc/Nissan/Honda. RB |

Yamaha can't be considered because their engines are too heavy in the protable
range. They've focused more on their big engine technology and lag behind Merc/Nissan/Honda. RB Yamaha F4 - 4 HP, 38 pounds Not for the 4 cycle, which is what I'd prefer. 4HP is 48 lbs and the 6 is 83LBs compared to Nissan's 55. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/products...c=otb&cid=19&s cid=5&but=19&year=2005&cat=Four+Stroke+Series&scat =Portable RB |

so that portion of the conjecture gets
ignored as far as I'm concerned. The 4hp Yamaha or Nissan would be more than up to the job. Personally, I'd rather have a 4 hp Yamaha than a 5 hp Nissan. I'd really like to have the max HP for the Porta-bote. The Nissan 5hp weighs in at 55lbs. The Honda 5HP would be my top choice, but it's 60lbs, over the limit by 6 for the Porta-bote. We have three people in a dinghy plenty of times and I think the extra HP will be nice. The price of the 4,5,6 are also pretty close, so I thought I'd split it and get the 5. My Tohatsu that was stolen a few weeks back was a great motor. If you don't agree that the extra 1 hp will help please explain. Sandy at Porta-bote also suggested the 5 HP for the 10' model. I doubt money was much of a factor as they are so close in price. RB |
