The extra 1 HP won't make any difference really. I doubt that it will
plane with two of you in it with 5HP and it will plane with just one
with 4Hp -especially if it's propped properly

so that portion of the conjecture gets
ignored as far as I'm concerned. The 4hp Yamaha or Nissan would be more than up
to the job. Personally, I'd rather have a 4 hp Yamaha than a 5 hp Nissan.
I'd really like to have the max HP for the Porta-bote. The Nissan 5hp weighs in
at 55lbs. The Honda 5HP would be my top choice, but it's 60lbs, over the limit
by 6 for the Porta-bote. We have three people in a dinghy plenty of times and I
think the extra HP will be nice. The price of the 4,5,6 are also pretty close,
so I thought I'd split it and get the 5. My Tohatsu that was stolen a few weeks
back was a great motor.
If you don't agree that the extra 1 hp will help please explain. Sandy at
Porta-bote also suggested the 5 HP for the 10' model. I doubt money was much of
a factor as they are so close in price.
