Well, that, plus most guys move the bush out of the way. It's
one of the good things about having opposable thumbs.

Umm, no. Actually the filter part of cigarrette butts is fiberglass that
will not decompose for years, and the "paper" is plasticized to the
point where it will also not degrade easily either.

I think if you do a little research you will find the "fiberglass-in-the-filter" to
be an urban myth, "Don't smoke brand X, they have fiberglass in the filter and you'll
die of some horrible lung desease!"; right, like lung cancer is not a 'horrible' lung
desease. Sheese.

Possibly, but a lot of them are made of some sort of spun ceramic. Which
is the same stuff as fiberglass even if you can't build a boat out of it.

Anyway they still don't decompose in a week like Loco said. I don't
believe the claim that it takes seven years, but at least a couple of
months seems likely.

C'mon everybody knows it's genetics that determines whether you get cancer.

WTF do you think is causing the problem on our beaches, it sure isn't
discarded Tally Ho packets!

What problem???

The only problem that I can see is that some people feel the need to sift
sand for cigarette butts!

But I use the old plastic grocery store bags for trash bags in my boat.

That's just the point Dunall, They don't decompose quickly enough and
when they do they release toxins into our waterways.

Next tackle will be the banning of plastic shopping bags.

Actually, the taxing of plastic shopping bags seems to have worked rather
well in Ireland.

They almost dissappeared overnight!
