Don't Buy Gas Today

Why don't we all go on strike SV Perhaps you should post that comment at alt.hoffa.mob. joe "otnmbrd" wrote in message news Won't do squat. A better idea is also floating around .... everyone stop buying gas from Exxon/Mobil, period (not just one day,..... period) This too has problems. You need to identify any " Cheapo" gas dealers who are getting their gas from Exxon/Mobil and boycott them also .... course, this has problems also ...Shell, Sunoco, Texaco, etc. start running out of gas, they'll just go to Exxon/Mobil and buy their excess and sell it under their own names (and find a plausible excuse to further raise the prices due to "middleman" charges..... Course, we could get our Congressmen and Senators to pass some sort of Bill ......ROFLMAO.......... otn Dave wrote: On Wed, 19 May 2004 18:08:30 -0400, "BigManRestless" said: And what will "Don't Buy Gas Day" accomplish? Don't Buy Gas Today
Why don't people have the ability to think these things through all
the way? Good question..why don't you, Katy? Clearly the 24 hr. boycott won't effect station owners or gas companies, but the coverage of a "boycott" on the news lets politicians know what might get them knocked out of office. Clearly you did not think this through. RB |

Don't Buy Gas Today
And what will "Don't Buy Gas Day" accomplish? If you don't buy it today,
you'll buy it tomorrow Not necessarily. katysails wrote: Same people who promote this type of politically correct silliness wouldn't ever think of raking public transportation, car pooling, or just not going somewhere.... And some of them are modern hippies who live like refugees, and don't have a car in the first place. The only thing this kind of silliness does is raise awareness of the issue. To make a change, more people have to decide to consume less... which would be good in any case if you are old fashioned enough to believe in saving money. ... and your average gas station owner does not make a very big profit on the gas...he makes his profit on selling cappuccino, coffee, and candy bars....so who gets hurt the most? Small business...the guy down the block....Why don't people have the ability to think these things through all the way? Because politcal hype, from both sides, discourages thinking it all the way through. If people *thought* then we would never have gotten in theis mess, would we? DSK |

Shucks, we have *lots* of alternatives to gasoline & fossil fuels. The problem is that most of them are a lot more expensive, and the few that are price competitive, especially as a vehicle fuel (such as methane), with gasoline, are not readily available & are somewhat troublesome to handle. One of the biggest issues with American consumers is convenience. When you see fuel cell recharging stations lining up to take business right next to gas pumps, then maybe we'll have gotten somewhere. In the meantime, electric cars are a pretty good alternative.
