OK, you're partially redeemed, but you can keep the Wagner.....actually, I
can see you storming across Galveston Bay, all 50 hp blazing, with the "Cry
of the Valkyrie" blasting out of the portholes....

What about "Flying Dutchman?" Pretty appropriate.

Not one of my favorites...if I have to listen to Wagner, let it be
"Lohengrin" or "Meistersinger of Nuremberg"

Boston Pops on 4th of July!

The best....although I heard the Washington Symphony (I think it was
them...) perfrom the 1812 Overture on the oval in front of the White House
with cannon and fireworks and I think that probably was the most spectacular
music I've ever been privy to hear...

Living all my life in Boston I've attended both on many, many occasions.
Symphony Hall is one of the best venues in the country. I've been there five
times this season, most recently to see Bobby McFerrin - a great show,
especially with the Symphony Hall acoustics.

However, the July 4th event on the river is a spectacle not to be missed, at
least a few times. For a number of years I worked in the boathouse directly
across from the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade. Perfect seats for the fireworks,
but we used the TV and radio to bring in the concert.

I haven't gone over to watch the concert in a few years - only the first 200,000
get good seats. Last year we watched the concert on TV on our boat, moored in
Salem Harbor waiting for their fireworks.
