![]() "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... I love my boat and I'm making money with it! Please explain. I dare you to. We paid 16K for her. She'll sell for double that or more. In fact, a boat no where near her good condition for more than double this past spring. In addition to that I took out some business people this year who saw fit to reward me with a gift of cash. Finally, indirectly Alien has led me to two very nice deals on boats, sold for well above what I paid. It's been a nice year and to say we sail for free isn't accurate. We're now well ahead of the game. The same goes for the 34XL. We're paying 25K or more under TMV and so we'll make money when we trade up/sideways/down. There you have it! So you're not making very much out of it. Bob, you really do think "small". I've told you before that you need to think "out of the box". Try to stand back and look at the situation a bit differently. You will see that you aren't making very much at all. You should be a bit more ambitious. Let's put it another way:- Your life, just like your boats, is a series of stepping stones. However, each step is too small. You are never going to get very far unless you try to raise your personal expectations. Go for it, Bob! Take charge of your own life! Make a decent film! Regards Donal -- |

You are never going to get very far
unless you try to raise your personal expectations. But my next boat is better and faster than yours. I'm just turning 41. My stepping stones are part of a learning curve that I enjoy and it outpaces yours. The "most" boat I'd ever want would be a new Baltic (or the like) and we'll own one in the next 6-8 years. Oh, Donal...I see that you DO care! RB |

The "most" boat I'd ever want would be a new Baltic (or the like) and we'll own one in the next 6-8 years. Why don't you decide to own your dream boat within, say, two years? How much does a Baltic cost? Why can't you get one within two years? You are 41. You may not know it, but you are at the peak of "achievement" years. If you ever want to own a Baltic, then you must go for it NOW. So far, you have demonstrated that you will accept any old bargain. Let's face it, you need to raise your expectations! If you want a Baltic, then tell us that you will own one in two years. You know that I am giving you good advice..... because...., like everybody else here, I already have the boat that I want. Oh, Donal...I see that you DO care! I do. Honestly, I really do. Save yourself, before it is too late. Regards Donal -- |

Faster, fancier and better built. By the end of next summer I'll have taken two good long cruises. Meanwhile I've sailed far more boats than you and have inside dope on boats that you'd have to pay to get! Sorry, RB |

Do try and not place yourself outside a well lit and clearly marked harbour
entrance at night until you learn the fundamentals of tides, navigation and have an inkling about basic operation of your electronics. Oh Yeah... don't forget the batteries this time either Eh! :-) CM "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... | But my next boat is better and faster than yours. I'm just turning 41. The Baltic I want is aprox. 700K on the used market. It doesn't belong on the LI Sound. Buying one now is a complete waste of a fine boat, given limited time with my wife in school. But when we move to the Chesapeak, it'll be a good choice. The Baltic is not our only choice. We're also sailing a far less expensive Tartan this summer. That's another excellent sailing vessel that is far better built than your toy. RB |

Would that be a Baltic 50 with an 11 foot draft? Right, that's a good boat for the Bay!

You may not know it, but you are at the peak of "achievement"
years. Says who? My father wasn't a millionaire until he was 53. He wasn't dissapointed. RB |
