They both had nightmares about bloody
screaming kittens for weeks.

And well they should have....what idiots....

Does your cat pull it's own weight on the boat? Pets on boats.... how
lubberly can you get!
Pathetic is what you are.

Chopper pulls his. When we're not aboard, he barks at all usurpers and =
he makes a great afghan on cold nights.

It's done that way here as well. These people are living in the past.
Things have changed a lot in the past twenty years. (PETA). Now they even
kill the chickens BEFORE dunking them in the boiling water to remove the
feathers. Lobsters are still boiled alive.

You've never visited the killing floor at a slaughterhouse, I'm thinking.

It's pretty horrible. Do you remember Clarice's soliloquy about slaughtering
the lambs in "Silence of the Lambs"? That was an accurate portrayal. It's
not nice and could be done much more humanely but that would not be cost
effective.

Yep, here we use an air operated pistol with an attached bolt.
Place it between the eyes, pull the trigger and the bolt explodes the
brain then recoils back for the next beast.
Cheap efficient and fast.

Sure... as long as it could tail winches, hoist anchor, swab the deck....
in short carry it's fair share of the load. That ain't gonna happen with a
dog or a cat.

I've been known to allow deck gorillas aboard......

A gentleman doesn't tell.

A cat on board is a necessary if not sufficient component of any survival
kit. They can find food in any port in the World and will bring you nice
birds, snakes, lizards, and rats so fat they would grace anyone's table.
And if you are starving at sea, you can eat the cat, use its claws for
hooks, its gut for line, its eyes for bait, and tie its tail to your radio
ariel.

There comes a time in most animals lives, when the quality of life is gone,
when only suffering and pain remain. Most animals reaching that point
probably wish to die. I think I would. Those who care the most have an
obligation to ease that suffering. The hard part is knowing when "to be"
should give way to "not to be."

You show all this compassion for a dear departed pet, but cannot show
compassion at the difficult decision made? You elevate an animal above a
person in your actions. It is not a lack of morals or concience, but the
conviction to those morals that allows a person to end the suffering of a
dear friend, as difficult as it can be. You on the otherhand use the
opportunity to ridicule and be hurtful rather than show empathy and
compassion, or even disinterest.. But that is in keeping with your
character.
