My Friend,
The folding Prop didn't come cheap but was only less than a third of the new main Also, getting use to the free footed main. I like having the draw string on the foot of the main. A lot more shaping ease. Don't have as much Roach as I had on the old UK Main but I have a good stable leech, Open but stable. Very little take up necessary on the leech string. The full battens are a huge improvement over my old ones. The leech ends pocket flaps are tucked into the pockets leaveing a much cleaner leech.. Velco on the inside of pockets Reef points and cunningham workmanship outstanding. Same for the corners. North builds a nice sail Ole Thom |

The loose foot is nice in light air, especially since they tend to cut
things flatter these days. Did North build that sail in Sri Lanka? -- ---- Steve S/V Pony Express "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... A shelf foot is much better because it controls the
tip vortex better and has the extra added advantage of being a good way to collect rain water while under way. Poor Old Thom managed to overlook an important feature. My old worn out North main is probably just as efficient as Thom's new one. S.Simon "Pony Express" wrote in message ... Oh man, the other day in a T-storm, I had a reef in the main and the water
was just pouring out of the end of the bunched up loose sail. Scotty "Simple Simon" wrote in message ... Simple,
The only thing your old main is efficient at is wrapping galley wasteG "You know you're not a sailor when your main isn't worth the price of the Prop on your Beanie" Neal you are in that category:^) "I'LL DRINK TO THAT!" Ole Thom |

Hey Neal,
I just thoughtof something. North is giving me 25% off the purchase price ($368.00) What are your dimension of your main? They can't be that far off of mine. For $368 you have a huge improvement on your boat. This sail is only 14 years old and in good condition but would need a tuck taken in it. Spec;= E=10' 4" P=31' Sail Area=160 Sq Ft Two Reefs, plus a flatting reef ( Which I have been sailing the last two years 3/4" flat sail slides for mast, 3/8" bolt rope for boom. 4" tack off set It's yours for $368, if you're interested Ole Thom |

P is to long, my P is 27 feet (problem). I is too long, my I is 10 feet (probably not a problem). I have round slides (problem). The tack offset is about right, boltrope for boom is right. The main problem is it's too tall. Close but no banana! Thanks, Thom, but it wouldn't fit and it's probably more worn out than mine because you motor most of the time with the sail flogging like Booby does. "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... I is 10'? Is that some kind of a 3/8 fractional rig? What's your "J"
measurement? About 3'? -- ---- Steve S/V Pony Express "Simple Simon" wrote in message ... P is to long, my P is 27 feet (problem). I is too long, my I is 10 feet (probably not a problem). Neal,
Sail maker said shelve can be added anytime. No problem. He suggested I sail awhile with the foot free. Said I'd probably like it. If not a shelve can be added Ole Thom |

I'd purchase the shelf if it were mine. An end plate makes
a lot of sense on a mainsail. "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... Neal, Sail maker said shelve can be added anytime. No problem. He suggested I sail awhile with the foot free. Said I'd probably like it. If not a shelve can be added Ole Thom |
