Cargo Law doesn't have any photos up yet but he should have soon. This
is
a
great website.
I'm curious as to how long it took to sink.

I love the cargo site, a lot of the best photos I've seen on ship
subjects, even a great one on a Navy ship I once worked on.
Thank you.

Greg,

Could you post the link to your NAVY ship.

Can't help but be a bit proud, as it's the only thing I've ever had to
do with a ship, let alone a US Nave ship that have long lives of doing
there job. I worked on that turret with two guys sitting on it. It's
like a strange revolver for Harpoon missiles, as they reside in a
round revolver, that delivers the missile to the arms up top.

I'm 50 years old. To this day I still watch every launch like I did when I
was 10 years old.

Several years ago (early 1990's) I was at the Owls Head, Maine Museum air
show and there was an older gentleman wiping down his black P-51 Mustang. I
told him he had a beautiful plane and he thanked me. A very small air show
and up close.
He and his wife got in the plane, took off, did a few stunts and then I
found out it was Frank Borman. I was floored.

Ok, so you wanna drop names; BTW 63. When I was at Downey they had the
astronaut come down for a fit & try of their ship. They put out a red
carpet, brought them in on chopper, then had the pretties
secretaries, drive them to a podium in an electric golf cart. They
game a little speech or, wait, maybe that was after a successful
flight. Anyway, several groups of them came down, usually in three's.
I got autographs of Walt Cunningham, Wally Shirah, and was quite
thrilled with the whole thing. If we were working when one went up,
they let us watch. I knew we were doing something important, but never
made a big deal about, it, after all, it was just a job.

I may have been there about that time too. If you saw a 57 landrover
in the exhibits then, it was mine. Sort of green color and on of only
a few I have ever seen of that age in this country.

I remember seeing the Landrovers up there. I had to have seen it and we may
have met.

Owls Head is a treasure.
