Default California junk?

There was a bit of controversery a while back when the local fire dept put
out a tender and decided on a fireboat from California.
A number of local boat builders, such as Rosborough, complained about not
buying locally.
Maybe they have a point...........

Boat on the manufacturer's site looks too narrow for its length, looks
too top heavy, and looks like those twin engines are far enough away
from the bow to stern centerline to create some interesting stability
problems.

On what are you basing your opinion? Your years of experience driving
fairly heavy workboats with full crew and gear aboard? Or, more likely,
your dislike of Don?

The navy has a couple here....... not sure why the fire dept decided they
needed one now, after 259 years without one.

I would hope a couple of naval architects would comment on the reasons
for the tipover. As soon as I saw a stern shot of the boat, I had a
suspicion about the cause.

More info on the new fireboat...
Seems there is only one other Firehawk 28 in operation...in a place called
Vinyard, South Carolina. They only let three people on + 2 more while
training.
Bottom line...with a minimum crew, there had better not be too many victims
waiting to be rescued by this boat.

The boat is visible tippy, and with those big outboards out at the
edge...sheesh.

Still ongoing...... the deal is off...the boat didn't pass specs and now
Transport Canada has grabbed the boat for testing.
note: the deputy fire captain puhing for this boat was caught and almost
drowned when the boat flipped.
Montreal has ordered three of the Rosborough 'Hammer Head' style fireboats
manufactured right here in Halifax.
