Scotty, you should be ashamed. Not of your opinion, but of your inability to state it without profane refereneces to killing somebody and the insertion of implied profanity. Are most of your reactions to things emotional ( anger is very evident in your post) or do you sometimes respond with rational analysis? ============= OK. Let's tone it down a bit. That cop could use a little tuneup behind a dumpster in a dark parking lot. Same treatment he gave the kid. |

ALL of this bull**** could have been avoided if the kid would of had just a little respect, even if the officer is out of control like this one. This fat fu**er needs to be put down like the rabid animal he is... Great statement, scott. read the vid description? opening lines: Wow... ALL of this bull**** could have been avoided if the kid would of had just a little respect, even if the officer is out of control like this one. I don't feel sorry for the kid at all, but I also think Officer Rivieri should find a new line of work...." I'm not sticking up for the cop, but the kid was a jerk that egged it on. Where does it stop? kid pushed the wrong button, the cop goes down? =================== I've seen cops handle actual dangerous situations (beginnings of a gang fight in a parking lot, for instance) without even raising their voices. The cop in this video had no style, so competence, and he probably manhandles his wife & kids the same way. I also wonder if he returned the property he stole from the kid. |

The cop shouldn't have gotten physical. The kid shouldn't have mouthed off to the cop. It would have played out much differently if the kid showed respect for authority, even if feigned. What? A person isn't allowed to voice their concerns over the cops actions? Oh, contraire! The vid is on Youtube, and no doubt the cop probably got fired or suspended and maybe even sued. The kid voiced his opinion and won. i suppose my point is, that the situation was unnecessary and could easily have been avoided. The kid probably didn't know btter, and the cop should have known better. bad deal all around. The cop got suspended WITH PAY. I would expect a lawsuit soon. NO matter how disrespectful the kid was the cop acted like a bigger child than the kid. Would you apportion the blame for this incident all on the cop or does it need to be spread around a little? The kid should be cited for and if he broke a law, calling a cop "Dude" is not illegal. The cop should be held 100% responsible for his abuse of power, totally losing control of his emotions and throwing down the kid without any reason. That's not what I asked. Sure, the cop should be held accountable for his actions which were a bit over reactive. The little urchin needs to be educated on becoming a responsible member of society. His training should have started 12 years ago. |

Must be a Blackwater graduate. Yeah, that was another nice one. Somehow, I've managed to have nothing but positive experiences with cops, some to the point where it seemed weird. When I first got my handgun, I was on my way to the range, and I'd stopped at the bank to deposit a check. I wasn't yet equipped with a belt stiff enough to support the clunker of a gun I had at the time, so while fumbling for my wallet, the belt sagged, and my jacket moved up enough to expose half the gun. There's a tap on my shoulder, I turn around, and it's a cop behind me in line. He points to the gun. I said "Jeez...I just got this gun and blah blah blah". He didn't even ask for my permit. He took his notepad out of his pocket, wrote down the name of a store that sells cop accessories, and said "This is where I get my belts. They'll set you up with something that works. Have a nice day." I left scratching my & thinking "cop...bank....gun...what just happened here?" :-) 1972: I'm cranking down route 81 south of Syracuse, doing close to 100 in a bright yellow 1970 Cougar. Hair down past my shoulders. Along comes a state trooper, and I figured "Great. I'm a dead man. These guys are taught to kill hippies". I told him the truth: "This is the first day in over a month when it's been dry & sunny instead of icy. I was just stretchin' it out a little. And I was gonna slow down for that weird curve up ahead". He says "You think 100 is just a little stretch?" Takes my license, does his radio thing, comes back, looks in the car and asks "Hurst shifter in a Cougar? Never saw that before. You put it in?" We get into a brief discussion about it. Then, "Slow it down. Don't do that on my highway." Leaves, gives me no ticket. WTF? Actually, my worst experience was with a cop who bungled a burglary investigation by being exquisitely stupid. |

There are some cops who convince themselves that tin badge and sidearm turns them into something they are not. Above all, they are civil servants, and if they can't be civil *unless and until their lives are being threatened* they need to be drummed off the force. Couple of years ago, I was in Bal'mer after an Orioles game and there was a huge line of traffic heading into the waterfront area. I mean, it didn't move a foot for 20 minutes. So, I made a U-turn out of the traffic and headed off in another direction. Naturally, I was stopped by a cop in a prowler. "What do you think you are doing, fella," he asked. "Getting the hell out of here," I responded. He started in on me verbally and I asked, "Is it illegal to make a U-turn here?" He hesitated for a moment and then said "No." I said, "Have a nice day," and that was the end of it. The cop should have been out of his car, helping move the traffic along. |
