Great statement, scott.

read the vid description?

opening lines:

Wow... ALL of this bull**** could have been avoided if the kid would
of had just a little respect, even if the officer is out of control
like this one.

I don't feel sorry for the kid at all, but I also think Officer
Rivieri should find a new line of work...."

I'm not sticking up for the cop, but the kid was a jerk that egged it
on. Where does it stop? kid pushed the wrong button, the cop goes
down?

The only ones in the video that did the right thing were the kids that kept
their mouths shut. The cop shouldn't have gotten physical. The kid shouldn't
have mouthed off to the cop. It would have played out much differently if
the kid showed respect for authority, even if feigned.

The kid obviously has never been taught respect for authority but the cop
abused his. He could have handled it in a much more professional manner.

I have to admit though. Even old fashioned, conservative me would have a
tough time keeping a straight face if I were stopped by a cop wearing that
kind of uniform and driving that kind of "squad car".

Oh, contraire!

The vid is on Youtube, and no doubt the cop probably got fired or
suspended and maybe even sued. The kid voiced his opinion and won.

i suppose my point is, that the situation was unnecessary and could
easily have been avoided. The kid probably didn't know btter, and the
cop should have known better.

I was at a fund rasing event at the emergency clinic in ********** a
few years back. We had a new cop in from the west coast, he was a big
guy. So this maybe 12 yo kid gets off the crash demo he was running
and starts to walk away. This cop moves in front of the kid who he
towers over and asks him "so did you like the ride?". The kid says
"yup" and tries to walk by. Not happening. The cop steps in front of
the kid and asks him again telling him he should answer with "yes
sir". The kid says yup and tries to walk away. This happens three
times till the kid says "yes sir" and is allowed to continue on his
way. I noted that he and his friend got on their bikes and left the
event. This guy was just being an asshole and if there weren't a bunch
of folks around who knows what could have happened. Personally, the
guy should have been fired, but there is a statey down there running
things that is a real thug. Most of the OG cops know it, but are just
waiting for him to rotate out.. Little prick, with a huge case of what
we we refer to as "little mans disease". It is really hurting the
local area, even some local business owners don't like him...

Not to mention to ALL of you. The surpreme court says you can say
anything to a cop, as long as you don't threaten him, and give him
your name and address if he asks you. This was over a Texas case where
a man told cop to "fu88 off" and the SP said he had that right.
Period.. This pig bitch has NO right to say anything cause the kid
called him "dude". The pig bitch that threw me down the stairs in
handcuffs had no right. The kids dad should at least hire a bunch of
thugs to get the guy out taking out the trash one night and beat the

What I was doing was perfectly legal. Sitting on a railroad right of
way. The bike had not been on a public roadway. They had a hardon for
me. I told my uncle exactly what happened. He was shocked that I
wasn't guilty. We took it to local court and was vindicated of all
charges. As a matter of fact, my uncle's lawyer friend told us what to
do. Ask for a supporting deposition. The officer never supplied one,
nor did he show up in court.

All on the cop, period. He is the adult, and his training should have
covered this, completely. No way, no how, in no manner did that cop
have any right to touch the kid, or threaten him verbally....
period.. If he can't do the job, get another job.

The only ones in the video that did the right thing were the kids
that kept
their mouths shut. The cop shouldn't have gotten physical. The kid
shouldn't
have mouthed off to the cop. It would have played out much
differently if
the kid showed respect for authority, even if feigned.
What? A person isn't allowed to voice their concerns over the cops
actions?

Oh, contraire!

The vid is on Youtube, and no doubt the cop probably got fired or
suspended and maybe even sued. The kid voiced his opinion and won.

i suppose my point is, that the situation was unnecessary and could
easily have been avoided. The kid probably didn't know btter, and the
cop should have known better.

The cop got suspended WITH PAY. I would expect a lawsuit soon. NO
matter how disrespectful the kid was the cop acted like a bigger child

The kid should be cited for and if he broke a law, calling a cop "Dude"
is not illegal. The cop should be held 100% responsible for his abuse
of power, totally losing control of his emotions and throwing down the
kid without any reason.

Scotty, you should be ashamed. Not of your opinion, but of your
inability to state it without profane refereneces to killing somebody
and the insertion of implied profanity.

Are most of your reactions to things emotional ( anger is very evident

As have I. I was 16 years old and got some tickets on my motorcycle
(wasn't even on it, hadn't been running for an hour) and the two
village cops didn't like me because I was always on the edge of being
in trouble. They beat the **** out of me before it was all over.

Great statement, scott.

read the vid description?

opening lines:

Wow... ALL of this bull**** could have been avoided if the kid would

I don't feel sorry for the kid at all, but I also think Officer

I'm not sticking up for the cop, but the kid was a jerk that egged it
on. Where does it stop? kid pushed the wrong button, the cop goes
down?

===================

I've seen cops handle actual dangerous situations (beginnings of a gang
fight in a parking lot, for instance) without even raising their voices. The
cop in this video had no style, so competence, and he probably manhandles
his wife & kids the same way.

I also wonder if he returned the property he stole from the kid.

Yeah, that was another nice one.

Somehow, I've managed to have nothing but positive experiences with cops,
some to the point where it seemed weird. When I first got my handgun, I was
on my way to the range, and I'd stopped at the bank to deposit a check. I
wasn't yet equipped with a belt stiff enough to support the clunker of a gun
I had at the time, so while fumbling for my wallet, the belt sagged, and my
jacket moved up enough to expose half the gun. There's a tap on my shoulder,
I turn around, and it's a cop behind me in line. He points to the gun. I
said "Jeez...I just got this gun and blah blah blah". He didn't even ask for
my permit. He took his notepad out of his pocket, wrote down the name of a
store that sells cop accessories, and said "This is where I get my belts.
They'll set you up with something that works. Have a nice day." I left
scratching my & thinking "cop...bank....gun...what just happened here?" :-)

1972: I'm cranking down route 81 south of Syracuse, doing close to 100 in a
bright yellow 1970 Cougar. Hair down past my shoulders. Along comes a state
trooper, and I figured "Great. I'm a dead man. These guys are taught to kill
hippies". I told him the truth: "This is the first day in over a month when
it's been dry & sunny instead of icy. I was just stretchin' it out a little.
And I was gonna slow down for that weird curve up ahead". He says "You think
100 is just a little stretch?" Takes my license, does his radio thing, comes
back, looks in the car and asks "Hurst shifter in a Cougar? Never saw that
before. You put it in?" We get into a brief discussion about it. Then,
"Slow it down. Don't do that on my highway." Leaves, gives me no ticket.
WTF?

Actually, my worst experience was with a cop who bungled a burglary
investigation by being exquisitely stupid.

There are some cops who convince themselves that tin badge and sidearm
turns them into something they are not. Above all, they are civil
servants, and if they can't be civil *unless and until their lives are
being threatened* they need to be drummed off the force.

Couple of years ago, I was in Bal'mer after an Orioles game and there
was a huge line of traffic heading into the waterfront area. I mean, it
didn't move a foot for 20 minutes. So, I made a U-turn out of the
traffic and headed off in another direction. Naturally, I was stopped by
a cop in a prowler. "What do you think you are doing, fella," he asked.
"Getting the hell out of here," I responded. He started in on me
verbally and I asked, "Is it illegal to make a U-turn here?" He
hesitated for a moment and then said "No." I said, "Have a nice day,"
and that was the end of it.

The cop should have been out of his car, helping move the traffic along.
