Similar amount of fuel used, moving a much heavier boat with much less horsepower. Case closed. Well, not really. I can't see your GB going 50 mph on the way to the fishing grounds. Case reopened. :) Now wait a cottin' pickin' minute. Your're getting as slippery as Harry. Nobody talked about maximum speed. We were comparing fuel burn rates *at* 8-9 kts. and the efficiency of doing so. Your Etec, with what? 200hp? is moving a *much* lighter boat at 9 kts, burning roughly the same amount of fuel as a 120 hp diesel pushing a 30,000 lb boat at 8 kts. Plus .... (hehehe) let me know when your Etec will need a rebuild. At 6000 hrs, the little Leyman diesel in the GB is about halfway through it's service life before rebuild according to American Diesel. I want to see SWS or Harry spend the night in their boat. ![]() Been there - done that. 24 hour striper tournament in 2001. Took a nap on the front deck. :) Yes, but was it in January in the snow? ![]() |
