If I had the time, I'd archive posts like this - for "giggles"!

He previously stated here that he does not have a trailer. He must
have a boat that converts to an airplane. ;-)

A flying boat!

Wish I were living along the Atlantic again, or closer to it than we are
now.

My wife is talking a bit about Hilton Head Island as a possible
retirement area. Gosh, *that* would break my heart.

Notice the smooth transition to narcissism. Well done, Krause!

Red neck country. You might not fit in.

If there are rednecks on Hilton Head Isle, they are sweeping up.

How ecumenical of you.

Mayhaps Wayne is getting fed up with the stupid "everyone else is
responsible for my irresponsibility" attitude of too many Americans.
Go on the water on a boat and you will need to deal with waves and
wakes...... from both sides.
Sure, there are idiots who have no knowledge and/or concern about their
potential for creating a problem with their wake....but their numbers are
equalled and exceeded by those idiots who have no knowledge or common sense
to realize that on the water, wakes/waves may cause them problems under
many conditions and it's up to them to handle those problems so that their
passengers and their vessel can proceed, safely.

Never said that.

You have missed my point somewhere along the line, obviously a failure
to communicate clearly on my part.

This "wake" business is not about "big boat vs small boat" or "who has
the bigger boat". That's not the point. The point I was trying to
make, and have apparently not yet succeded, is that wakes (and waves)
are part of being out there. Wakes (and waves) travel a long way from
their point of origin, and it is unreasonable to expect that no wakes
will ever be created. Contrary to the opinion of some, no one is out
there creating wakes just to make life miserable for others. And also
contrary to opinion, not all wakes are created by "large" boats, and
"large" is always relative to what you happen to be in at the moment.

As you may have correctly surmised, I have little sympathy for "wake
whiners".

Wayne,
He knows what you said, what is saying about you is the exact same thing
he used to say about Don and Harry. If you keep this up, he is going to
be your best buddy real soon.

The large container ships I have seen leave a nice rolling wake. While
it was not a problem (we took them at 35-45 degrees) I have never seen
a trawler (or even a floating RV) leaving a wake as large. I am trying
to figure out what kind of boat, a rec.boater would have that is
leaving a wake larger than a container ship.

Agreement that the container ships leave less steep wakes that are no
problem, even when I am only a few boat lengths away (we're *on* the
channel, so sometimes have to wait for traffic to pass).

Have seen a few powerboats throw as high wakes, though, and they were
much more square-shouldered. THEY can cause problems when they pass
within a few hundred yards.

Side issue: Silliest thing I see on the Bay is the mid-size Sea Rays
(primarily) going along "on plane" with the bow ridiculously above the
helmsman's line of sight. They throw an enormous wake for their size
and speed and look so strange with their bows pointing up to the sky.
