I have a Mercruiser Alpha II outdrive. Its leaking drive oil from the
seal between the upper and the gimbal housing. I've tightened all the nylox nuts. The leak is pretty slow. I lose about a quarter cup after 6hrs of trolling. I just had these seals replaced and it still leaks. The leak is only from the left side of the upper. No other seal is leaking. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Todd |

Maybe if someone knows an easy first option that I could check. Since the seals were just replaced, I doubt it would be a crack in the seal and the engine is not overheating. I'm at a loss as to what else it could be and I'd rather not take it apart without having at least some idea of what to be looking for. ![]() |

Thanks, I'll pull it off this weekend and check that out. Anything else I might look for while I have it pulled off? I just replaced the gasket, so it should be good. |

The seal around the u-joint yoke, the u-joint yoke, or the seal at the oil passage to the gimbal housing. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

If it's leaking then I would not assume the gasket is good. You might also
look for signs of leaking around the input shaft. Lube in the bellows may indicate that. wrote in message ups.com...
