I have a 25HP 1996 Mariner (model 25ELH) and also a 15HP 1992 Johnson
(model J15RENM). The Mariner is an electric start, the Johnson is a pull rope start. Both are 2 cycle engines, mixing the oil with the gas (50:1). Both motors have set for 2 years without running. Before that, they were both running sweet. Now, I have to run the Mariner at full choke (runs sweet at that setting), and the Johnson at half choke (that one stalls a lot even at that setting, but one pull starts it again every time). I'm assuming that the old oil/gas mixture has something plugged. I'm running SeaFoam through them both (mixed in the gas), but have just started that process so I haven't any feeling on how that will help yet. I am thinking I may need to chemically clean the fuel filters and possibly run wires through the carb jets to clean them out. I'm looking for a copy from a manual on each of these motors showing the location of the fuel filter, and also the carburetor jets. If anyone happens to have a service manual on either or both of these motors, I'd sure appreciate it if you could run a scan of the pages showing these and send them to the above email address. ) Thanks...... the Mac |
