I don't know whether Chuck is a bigot or not. I *do* know that there
was nothing in his post that would give me a clue, one way or the other.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I may be a bit more sensitive to this for reasons I care not to
discuss........and I do find his comments proving him a bigot.

In the end............life goes on. ;-)

This reminds me of the time you cried for days stating that Chuck posted
your home address and phone number. Even though many people stated he
didn't, you continue to swear he did, that you only deleted the personal
info after Chuck posted the link. When someone told you he could
retrieve the original web page from his server, and it proved that there
was no personal info on the web site, you suddenly started apologizing
for lying, and thanking Chuck for forgiving you behavior.

Maybe you should ask for Chucks forgiveness.

Well Jimmie, you've managed to **** off most folks here because of your
reading comprehension problems. Some have 'nicely' accepted your apologies.
Some have realized that your insecurities take you where you can be
welcomed - Harry and Don.

Hopefully, you'll grow up someday.

I don't see it that way at all. I'm married to a gal of Mexican decent (both
parents born there), and his post didn't bother me at all. I showed her, and
she didn't see what the big deal was. It's a fact that Home Depot has
signage in both English and Spanish...maybe a company wide policy? Why you
think someone is a bigot for pointing that out is beyond me.

Why don't you take a look at the percentage of whites to hispanics in the
construction trade... nationwide. 20 years ago it was more whites than
hispanics. Today, it's the opposite. Trust me, I know... I'm a General
Contractor in CA. Does it bother me? Not one bit. I don't care who works for
me as long as they put in an honest days work for their pay. I guess I'm now
a bigot for pointing out the facts and employing some of them?

I live in rural Connecticut and you would be amazed at the small and
large stores that have signs in spanish and english.

Perhaps in California, but nationally, Hispanics are 17% of the
construction workforce. I wouldn't know the percentage that is non-
English speaking, but clearly, if you are a construction related
retailer, bilingual signs make sense.

As JimH noted, he is entitled to his opinion. No apology expected.
None needed.
I think his scathing accusation of bigotry, based on his bizarre
misreading and likely deliberate misunderstanding my statement does
far more to define him for who he is than it defines me in any way.
(I'm also entitled to an opinion).

I must say, I find it humorous when "Smithers," the snarkiest a**hole in
rec.boats, feeds the ego of the newsgroup's Official Purveyor of
Shameless Commerce, and the two of them get off on each other.

They all have real SSN's? There's nothing wrong with that. It's your
ass if they are illegal or supply you with fake ID.

Yeah... the one that they all use is good...

Kidding aside, I've been an employer for some time, and know what to check
and how to check it. Well, the office manager does anyway. :)

Harry, I am amazed that a person as neat as you would stoop to such
name-calling. You're the hero of at least two people here, so you shouldn't
set such a bad example. Perhaps this is where Jimmie picked up his
name-calling habit?
