I'm going to resume my vacation from specific, essentially non-boating arseholes who hang out around here primarily to cause trouble, call names, and start off-topic threads. If you run into anybody like that, you'll notice that they aren't getting as much attention from me. They don't deserve it. Trying to kick a dog pile off the sidewalk only spreads it around and gets shoes dirty in the process. Better to wak around a steaming pile of feces and ignore it (which I hereby resolve to do a better job of) than to engage certain idiots on their own level. They are so not worth it. Keep a sharp eye peeled for anybody that meets that general description, won't you? You never know where one will turn up. |
OT: At the end of the first day...
Oh, and of course, your post had nothing to do with
boating. Neither does your cabinet thread, and I believe we're still in it. Try using OT for a change. I changed it for you so you get the idea. --Mike "Harry Krause" wrote in message ... Been to Home Depot or spent any time around a construction site lately? Many of the workers are more comfortable speaking Spanish. That's not racism, that's an objective observation. And furthermore, it isn't bigotry, unless you consider English somehow "superior" to Spanish. Ear of the beholder? There are some very intelligent and expressive people speaking and writing nearly every language ever invented, certainly a long tradition of literary excellence in Spanish. There are some folks dumb as dog dung who speak and even attempt to write in English. English is a ******* tongue that has borrowed and corrupted from a mixture of (primarily romance) languages. Aside from the fact that the lexicon is typically double or triple the size of the languages from which English was assembled there is little that makes it "superior" to Spanish, French, Italian, Greek, or Cantonese. In fact, the extreme difficulty experienced by non-native speakers attempting to learn English can be considered something of a disadvantage. English is one of the "default" languages in many places around the globe. This is due as much to the sun never setting on the British Empire and the industrial/trade/tourism dominance of English speaking countries early in the 20th Century as it is to any actual superiority of the English language itself. A variety of verb forms and greater flexibility with regard to the order of words in a sentence allow Spanish speakers to express things in one or two words that would take an entire sentence to describe in English. Observing that an individual may be more comfortable speaking one language than another isn't racist or bigoted, although it might appear that way to somebody operating from the perspective that people unlike himself are somehow inferior. But congrats on your short burst of self discipline. You observed our informal cease fire longer than I would have thought you capable. For my part, I'll continue ignoring you unless first attacked (as in this thread). You are so not worth the bother, JimH. Jesus, Chuck. Hire an editor. JohnH, I have to correct you on this one, Harry did not defend JimH's comment, he just used it as an opportunity to attack the person Harry used to say was one of the few first class gentlemen in rec.boats, one that he would enjoy taking out on his boat any day of the week, and would like to meet up when in Seattle. The funny thing, Harry thought JimH, was lower than snail **** is now he is his best buddy. Ripley's believe it or not. |

If I were contracting this job out, I wouldn't have said a peep. I'm also planning to do a patio this summer, masonry, of course. Will post progress photos... Please enlighten us, Harry. Of what use was a table saw in the installation of prefabricated cabinets? Today's your lucky day, crap-for-brains, because I had to tear down my desktop machine for a few days and am using my laptop, and I dumped the filters on that machine a few months ago while experimenting. Obviously, I need to set them up on the laptop so as to filter out you and the rest of the newsgroup scumsuckers. Let's see...table saw: end panels that need to be cut down to size. Trim pieces that need to be cut down to size. Countertop support pieces that need to be cut to the right lengths. Filler pieces that need to be trimmed down to the right width. Custom side boxing for refrigerator.y My electrician finished up today. I'm glad I got a pro for that part of the job. I'm also replacing a sliding patio door with a double "french" patio door, and I have to make some custom trim pieces for that job. Later, I'll be building a masonry patio, probably of stone. If you were brighter than a dimwit, I'd invite you over to watch and maybe carry some hod. What will you be doing this summer, John? Licking your golf balls? I am so pleased and honored that today is a 'no pretend' day. Went out on the boat today to see what the Rappahannock has to offer. Croaker are biting very well on bloodworms. Didn't try to find any stripers. Do you think you'll get any lobsta's this year? Yes, cutting trim pieces and shortening support pieces is *definitely* table saw work. Funny, I've helped renovate two kitchens now, and the most we ever used was a chop saw. Hope everything turned out OK! |
