(That's from TWO independant quotes) I'm hoping to find one at least in Seattle area, but most I find are East Coast, and over $15K CDN. Another option is a Crown 28, which ARE relatively popular here, but my Lady wouldn't like the head in the same "room" as the forepeak where we sleep. Sail the Islander up from Calif. Watch the weather window, and take a week or two and have a nice sail. Thought of that. The Nice Folks over in rec.boats.cruising considered that idea somewhere between "tough slog" and "insanity". I would think it would be do-able, but I wouldn't be used to the boat, and there is that long slog, upwind and against the current, from Astoria to Juan de Fuca. Another thing brought up was the amount of wear-and-tear and damage that trip would cause. So: sailing up from Seattle (or even Olympia) OK, but on the "outside" - no. And CERTAINLY not from anywhere on the East Coast. druid http://www.bcboatnet.org |
