That's the key - can they actually do something with nothing. Can they keep the economic momentum moving in a positive direction, can they actually come up with a good plan to get us out of the mess in Iraq and I think even more importantly, can they actually emulate the Republicans and toe the party line without inter-party squabbling they are famous for. More importantly than that is this - can they do it without reducing the economic power of the middle class by staying away from taxes and more entitlement programs. It will be an interesting couple of years. How many think that we will be sinking into a deep recession by this time next year? Unfortunately, I do. The recession has already started. Then it's the republican's fault!! BK, you haven't been paying attention. It's Clinton's fault. You have to go back two terms to find the blame. Ooops, I forgot!! Everything is Clinton's fault. I wonder how they'll blame the fall of Rummy and the Bush administration on him....... That's how Rs justify Clinton's success. Going back two terms puts you in Reagan territory, savior of all mankind, but especially rich bankers who robbed the American public blind. What gets me is that the Republicans CLAIM to cut taxes. They don't. They just shuffle money around to make it LOOK like they do. Take for instance in GA. Up until Gov. Perdue took office, a Republican, we had one of the best lottery for education purposes going. The HOPE scholarship. Keep a B average in high school, you get first years tuition and books paid to any in-state school. Keep a B average in college, it continues. Worked VERY well. When Perdue got into office, he almost INSTANTLY started putting his slimey hands on the HOPE grants, and made new much more strict rules and payment restrictions on it, using the money for other things. Is the lottery a tax? You started out by mentioning taxes. LOL! And the larger paychecks we saw because of less taxes being taken out were just figments of our imagination according to him also. The paychecks may have LOOKED larger but they really weren't. ;-) That's *our* Bassy for you. What an idiot. If you got a bigger paycheck because of tax cuts, but spent more because of the the inflation that it caused, that's somehow a good thing? What a dolt. Hasn't inflation been pretty tame for a while now? In January 1990 it was 5% It spiked just after Katrina last year to just over 4.5% 4.15% in July 2006 2.06 in September 2006. Bassy must have missed too many classes in Economics 101. ;-) Correction: 3.75% in 1990. My bad. |
