Wait! I know just where to turn to find it: rec.boast Ok JohnH. I think you owe me a toonie. I will accept two of your 'merican bucks... if you send them before they devalue any further. I have no idea what you're talking about. But that's OK! Really?..... better see a doctor about that. Early treatment can make quite a difference. |

When people disagree with your perspective in this NG, you suddenly become (in that person's opinion), a "horse's ass" or what not. Most of the participants here can't separate opinion from personality, and that's probably understandable. After all, few of us have ever met and we wouldn't recognize one another on the street. Those who are eager to judge one another have very little except opinion to work with. To nobody's surprise, each of us considers the "better" people to be those who agree with us most often. As Eisboch said: "Point is ... your constant scolding, lectures and passing of judgment about how *you* think others should behave are just as annoying as an over done political post IMO. Some people here are masters at purposely raising the ire of others (trolls) and frankly, I consider you one of them at times when you do this..." Maybe it is time for you to post another glowing advertorial of a Bayliner product to pay off that company for advertising in your boating magazine? I can't imagine why you'd care one way or the other. I've copied articles on a few US Marine products, maybe a half dozen in the last 3 years, into the NG and every time I have done so 2-3 people (typically you and Karen of Oz when it's offseason down under) give me grief about it and 2-3 people say "keep it up." Surely you don't think that the handful of people hanging out in rec.boats, of whom a significant portion are not active boaters, represent any commercial value to anybody. The only "payoff" for advertising in the publication I'm associated with is the response to the ads that appear there. There's no possible way that my random comments and opinions about the value of keeping the NG on topic could upset you and Eisboch and a few others so badly. Has to be something else at work here. (Conscience?) Anyway, I thank you for expressing your opinion. As you and others have pointed out rather indignantly, exchange of opinion is what the NG is supposed to be about. If some of us want to consider others to be "assholes" based upon the nature or character of the opinions expressed, I guess that comes with the territory. |

Ok, so what do you consider a good cup of mass produced and marketed coffee? By the way, one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had was at Bien Hoa AFB in Bien Hoa, SVN. We were there supporting the APE battalion during the first Tet Offensive and while assembling in a hanger, I grabbed a cup from a AF Master Sgt who was handing them out. Took a sip, said "damn Sarge, that's good". He says - "We clean the pots on a regular basis - with diesel fuel". I didn't drink anymore of it, but what I did drink was pretty damn good. :) The Special Forces guys at Bien Hoa had pretty good coffee also. They put on a fine breakfast in that club of theirs. I'm not a coffee aficionado. I've enjoyed any of the bolder Starbucks varieties, but I'd never go pay $20 a pound or more for coffee. |

Horse physiology, blacksmithing, high pressure welding techniques, how to kill a warfarin resistant Norway Roof Rat in my barn, exactly why a plane flies, how come my Mrs. Wave didn't leave me any cash this morning requiring me to go to the bank and finally, why do yellow highliters always dry out even if you have never removed the cap. So, how about you? :) I don't know what the hell a 'toonie' is. Don says, for some reason, that I owe him two of them. Those are just a couple of the many things I've no ideas about. Store your highlighters with the cap down. It increases their survivability by eons. |

Harry, you have always impressed me as being a reasonably articulate guy and a good communicator. Why do you have such a difficult time expressing a difference of opinion without stooping to name calling, character assassination, mud slinging, etc. In my opinion it reflects poorly on you and takes away from the credibility of your discussion. It is possible to disagree without being disagreeable. Just my 2 cents worth. |
