Meanwhile, as long as you have introduced the thought that we should
be
critical of the quality of posts to the NG, I'm still looking for some
evidence that your lobster boat exists outside of your imagination.
Wait! I know just where to turn to find it: rec.boast

Ok JohnH. I think you owe me a toonie.
I will accept two of your 'merican bucks... if you send them before
they devalue any further.
Two dollars will buy you a cupa at Mickey D's.

Poor Chuck. He's become his own protest.

If you are a senior at Micky D's, the cost is $0.27 to $0.54
Oh yeah? I didn't know that. Can I borrow your ID? :}

Only have to be 55. Learned that about 3 years ago, when we stopped at a
store wife wanted to shop in, and there was a Mickey D next door. figured
coffee was better than going in a fabric store. That will be $0.27 please.
HUH? Senior coffee.

I do get coffee there once in a while, but I never thought of getting
the discount. I can't eat much of the food there - too many calories and
too salty for my taste, but I have noticed an improvement in their salads.

I haven't had a McD french fry in years. I did like them.

Wendy's fries are better by a long shot.

My fried green tomatoes are better than any of them!

Good lord man!!!
Had to get in and out quick. We had a tee time to meet. I shot a 111. No,
I'm not happy.

How'd you do on the back nine?

You are not contributing to my overall mental well being and state of
serenity.

You're a brave man to have been out on the course early this morning. It
was pretty cold.

Layered clothing is the key to warmth on the golf course. We had to wait an
hour for the frost to clear up before they'd let us on the course. Had a
good time though!

ROTFL!!!!!

That *wasn't* that funny. And, I'm one who has a sense of humor. He knows
I'm a new golfer, and he's simply saying things to ruin what little
motivation for the game I have left.

Ok. so how'd you do on the front nine?

54, with a 57 on the back. There's a pond on the back whose level rose
about three inches when I got to it.

Knowledgeable jealousy is not important.

COFFEE THREAD!!!!!

Ok, so what do you consider a good cup of mass produced and marketed
coffee?

By the way, one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had was at Bien
Hoa AFB in Bien Hoa, SVN. We were there supporting the APE battalion
during the first Tet Offensive and while assembling in a hanger, I
grabbed a cup from a AF Master Sgt who was handing them out.

Took a sip, said "damn Sarge, that's good".

He says - "We clean the pots on a regular basis - with diesel fuel".

I didn't drink anymore of it, but what I did drink was pretty damn
good. :)

The Special Forces guys at Bien Hoa had pretty good coffee also. They put
on a fine breakfast in that club of theirs.

That was the club over on the 101st base right? Let me think, just
north of Bein Hoa City right over the hill from the long runway? Had
a 105 howitzer fire base attached to it?

We spent a night there after we were released from the air base - good
time if it was the same place.

They had a house band from the Philippines that did cover tunes - damn
they were good.

The Navy EM club at Cam Rahn Bay over by where the Swifts docked was a
great place too. Those Swifties knew how to party I'll tell you what.

Oh - 0h - I feel some war stories coming on.

Better quite while I'm ahead. :)

I'm not a coffee aficionado. I've enjoyed any of the bolder Starbucks
varieties, but I'd never go pay $20 a pound or more for coffee.

I actually quite coffee quite a number of years ago. Unless you
consider a Coffee Coolata or coffee ice cream "coffee".

Did the bar have a 'see through' photograph of Ann Margaret over the bar?
About a 3' by 5' portrait taken with infra-red so that the 'hot spots'
really stood out? (At least that was the story I was given by my brother,
an SF captain.)

When the sirens went off at Bien Hoa, and the mortars started coming in,
these folks just ordered another beer!

I bet a lot of your war stories would be interesting.
If Canada had been in that war...I would have been the right age.
I turned 18 in 1967...just before things turned to rat****.

Fairy tale: Once upon a time...

War story: This ain't no ****, but...

Otherwise there's little difference in many of them.

To quote Dickens:

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times".

And he was right. There were times one cried for happiness, and times one
just cried.
