MD is the tropics as far as I'm concerned.

LOL! Where do you live Black Dog?

BTW: Why did you choose Black Dog as your NG handle? (Please don't tell
me that you have a black dog.) ;-)

I live near Sudbury, Ontario, which isn't that far north, geographically
speaking (46.5 N lat)but attitudes and climate are pretty polar. (I've had
a little "discussion" with Harry about wearing fur, which was enough to
convince me MD must be in the tropics)

Yes, I have a black lab and she's my baby and the best damn dog in the
world. Black Dog and/or Stella (the dog's name) has been my internet
alter-ego since 1994. Specifically, I use Black Dog in the newsgroups
because it is not gender specific - back in the early '90's newsgroups
were much more hostile places to women than they are now, and I, of
course, was younger and more easily scared. Now I sign my posts with
Stella so people know I am female - guess you could say I've come a long
way, baby!

Stella

Labs are great dogs and certainly have great temperaments.

You should post a picture of her at alt.binaries.pictures.sports.ocean (the
"other" place).

What's with everyone wanting a Labrador Retriever these days? My sister
has a Black Lab & my nephew a Chocolate Lab.
My wife wants to get an English Springer Spaniel this fall.

Labs, boxers, dalmations........it does not matter the breed nor type of
animal. We all become attached to and love them.

Don't have access to that group anymore (little trouble with the
newserver at home and the one at work cuts out the big files). But here
are a couple of my favourites from last summer,

The look of concentration reserved for food and fetchable objects:

I really like this picture. You can't see the dog but I think it
captures the essence of the lab. A sunny day, a lake, a stick - won't
somebody come out and play?

I did a hell of a lot of crying during the last month or so that we had
her. Those big brown eyes always seemed to say, "Why can't you just fix
me?"
