Sorry southerners, but this poll is for northern boaters only.
Answer these questions: 1. Is your boat in the water and/or ready to go? 2. How much time did you spend prepping your boat for launch? 3. What exactly did you do/have done to the boat to prep it? 4. Did you do it yourself or contract it out? 5. What size is your boat? |

Is your boat in the water and/or ready to go? We are heading to the boat later this afternoon to install the bimini. I purchased and assembled. With that installed the boat will be ready for splash, which should occur no later than this weekend. 2. How much time did you spend prepping your boat for launch? 7 days including today. 3. What exactly did you do/have done to the boat to prep it? I have already discussed this in previous threads. But briefly: Barrier coating, bottom painting, hull gelcoat repair, bimini installation and washing/waxing. Remaining work (installing helm seat, accessory battery and A/B switch) will be done while the boat is in the water. 4. Did you do it yourself or contract it out? All my labor with the help of my wife at times. 5. What size is your boat? 21 feet-actually 20 feet , 10 inches ;-) |

Bimini sucessfully installed with the help of my wife and son. ;-) New prop also installed and we will carry the old one as a spare. It was a lot of work (with some more work to do on the interior) but the boat is ready for splash and goes in Friday afternoon! We will not be facing this amount of work next year or years to come. |

Answers.. 1/ No... today I'm shuffling it from the driveway to the street & back so the big 20 cu yd dumpster can be taken out, dumped and returned for more refuse. 2/ lots to come as I replace the keel bearing, grease the brass naval screw mechanism that lowers the keel, rig longer halyards so I can raise sail from the cockpit ...may install a depth sounder this year etc 3/ waiting for new galvanized combo bunk/roller boattrailer, work mentioned in #2 ...whatever else I discover. 4/ Do it myself..... ask advice on website dedicated to my model sailboat...or if required travel to local marine store and talk to rigger on staff. note: had local sailmaker sew UV protection on my genoa. another Sandpiper owner's wife is making a bimini for me at a reasonable price 5.65 meter mini cruiser (18.5feet) |
