Fox Poll: Bush Ratings Continue to Suffer
Harry Krause wrote: More good news for decent Americans everywhere. Gee, I wonder if Fox surveyed more Dems than Repubs? :} 11/10/05 FOX Poll: President Bush's Ratings Continue to Suffer Thursday, November 10, 2005 By Dana Blanton NEW YORK - As investigations and accusations surround the White House, the latest FOX News poll finds President George W. Bush's approval rating at a record low for the second time in as many months. Today, 36 percent of Americans approve and 53 percent disapprove of the job Bush is doing as president. For comparison, two weeks ago 41 percent said they approved and 51 percent disapproved, and at the beginning of his second term 50 percent approved and 40 percent disapproved (January 25-26). Until this week, Bush's approval rating had been at 40 percent or above - buoyed in large part by consistent strong support among Republicans; however, in mid-October approval among Republicans fell below 80 percent for the first time of his presidency and now sits at 72 percent. In addition, Bush's approval rating is down by double digits among other demographic groups. Since the beginning of his second term, his approval is down 26 percentage points among independents, 16 points among women, 15 points among whites and 11 points among men. Opinion Dynamics Corporation conducted the national telephone poll of 900 registered voters for FOX News on November 8-9. "The key to understanding Bush's rating is not the fact that 84 percent of Democrats disapprove or that 72 percent of Republicans still approve - they've been polarized for a long time," comments Opinion Dynamics Chairman John Gorman. "The real problem for the president is that self-described independents now disapprove by a 58 percent to 26 percent margin. The 'rally-the-base' strategies that have worked so well for the administration are not likely to win back the independents the Republicans need to return to parity. The question is whether they can develop an approach that wins back independents." - - - Bush, of course, will have his ups and downs in the polls, but one can be hopeful the current trend continues, and chills some of Bush's efforts to destroy the middle class. Harry. In case you haven't noticed, the Bush approval rating in rec.boats is somewhere around 75%. (That includes the Bush "blind worship" rating of about 25%). The thousands of examples of actual screw-ups, misdeeds, blunders and plunders of GWB haven't changed a single mind in this forum, (if anything, the incidents cause his faithful to more tightly circle the wagons), so why do you think that posting a FOX news poll showing Bush's national popularity dropping like an anvil in free fall will accomplish anything except ignite a flame war? If you want a receptive audience for a cut 'n paste like this, you know you won't find it here. You're not damaging Bush in the least, nor do you need to. He's damaging himself every time he attempts to speak or the latest scandal and administrative fiasco comes to light. (For gosh sakes, he's established black-op Gulags all around the globe!) So while you're not damaging Bush at all, you're screwing up the NG a lot. Do you expect the right wing faithful to stand idly by and not rise to the defense of their Czar? Of course not. Expect about 200 name calling responses to your cut 'n paste, a half dozen "retalitatory" threads about Democrats and liberals, more sick insinuations from the Kooky Kansas Ku Klux Klan that you can't be credible because you *must be* Jewish, and so on. Isn't there a forum someplace where an "I hate Bush" message would be on-topic? This type of stuff from either the neanderthal reactionaries on the right or the highly-evolved visionaries on the left (just kidding!) will only continue to attract destructive, non-boater types to the NG and assure that we drift even farther OT than ever. |

Fox Poll: Bush Ratings Continue to Suffer
Chuck,
Harry's wants to turn rec.boats into his little OT political insult group. If we eliminated cut and paste post, it would eliminate at least half the OT political post, it might even reduce them 75%. Harry will ignore your advice, because as he has said many times, he has no desire to have boats discussed in rec.boats. He comes here to say hello to a few old friends, but mostly to insult Rubli-Trash. wrote in message oups.com... Harry Krause wrote: More good news for decent Americans everywhere.
