Sorry southerners, but this poll is for northern boaters only. Answer these questions: 1. Is your boat in the water and/or ready to go? More or less ready to go. Just need to drop the mast from its slightly suspended position to snug up against the cabin for travel. Probably will go in the water next week. Would do it this weekend but our favourite extra hand is traveling to Florida for a convention. We will either enlist less experienced help or wait till he gets back. 2. How much time did you spend prepping your boat for launch? A few hours 3. What exactly did you do/have done to the boat to prep it? remove tarp. Remove the frame that supports the tarp when it is piled with 10 feet of snow. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. (just kidding about the repeat part) Get outboard serviced/checked out Last year we stripped and refinished the teak - that took a few days. 4. Did you do it yourself or contract it out? The outboard is done by professional types. Anything else is DIY. 5. What size is your boat? 21' Sirius sailboat. Stella |

Sorry southerners, but this poll is for northern boaters only. Answer these questions: 1. Is your boat in the water and/or ready to go? Mine lives on a trailer but yes, I have been out riding it for I think five weekends now, started the season on Apr. 2nd with a figure-eight around Staten Island and Manhattan; rides have included an overnight trip up the Hudson River and an afternoon swing around Fire Island just this past weekend. 2. How much time did you spend prepping your boat for launch? 3. What exactly did you do/have done to the boat to prep it? 4. Did you do it yourself or contract it out? Took it to the local dealership for their spring conditioning service, they did a good job and provided good value on winterizing it last winter. I guess for spring prep they check the condition of the battery and that things are properly lubed and/or tightened. Up to about 160 trouble-free hours on the Yamaha four-stroke now at the beginning of its second season. 5. What size is your boat? 11 feet! richforman |

Weatherwise, it is near-northern in the winter, and near-southern in the summer. But we do have four distinct seasons. North! I believe that Maryland is south of the Mason-Dixon Line, which many would consider Southern. It was also a slave holding state during the Civil War even though it stayed in the Union. Dave Hall |
