Precisely. 20-30 years just to get people to put one kind of garbage in one receptacle and another type of garbage in a different one. I'm thinking Americans never really had a love affair with their garbage or how they disposed of it. But they damn sure have one with their cars. Can you imagine how much more difficult it will be to effect change on car buying habits than it was with how they handle their trash? Some people had a love affair with working in the textile biz. That's history. When's the last time you were able to find a dress shirt made in this country? I don't mean a custom made shirt - I mean a pile of shirts, in packages, in a store. Change is a bitch. Oh well. |
