It appears that one of the legacies of the Clinton administration is that
global warming stopped in 1998.

Raising hand I have a question! Are you the opinion that there could
never be any information which would convince you that we *are*
contributing to global warming, and might want to change a few living
habits?

No, I read the article...mainly it's a piece that puts PERSPECTIVE on global
temperature fluctuations. And points out that the DOOM proponents of global
warming have a hidden agenda.

The flaw as I see in this article is that the temp is read in England which
has the gulf stream as the major impact on temperatures. Slight
fluctuations in that flow impact England severely and that flow has been
slowing slightly and that might be the reason that temps in England have not
kept up with global temp increases of less than 1 degree over the last 50
years.

Now before you jump on that, much of that increase is caused by the
SUN...it's still an open question how much if any of the increase is caused
by carbon dioxide.

There is no information at this time that would convince me that global
warming is a man made phenomena.

You might be right, or you might be wrong. However, here's an analogy.
Your doctor says you have a brain tumor. You tell him won't believe it's
dangerous until he shows you a petri dish on his desk containing a tumor,
from your head, the size of a bran muffin. Of course, by that time, you'd
be so messed up that you won't be able to comment on what you're seeing.

No, the analogy should be; You have headaches and one doctor says you have
a brain tumor even though it doesn't show up on a CT scan, "it's too small"
says the doctor "to show up on a scan at this time but it will kill you if
left untreated". You go for a second opinion and that doctor asks about
your lifestyle, does and in-depth study and concludes that it's probably
related to your job as an amusement ride inspector but to be on the safe
side you should get a CT scan every 6 months for 2 years to be sure. You
can't quit your job ( you have a family to support) so you follow the second
doctors advice.

Doug, you call the second doctor a quack when that IS the reasonable choice.
The first doctor MAY be right but the evidence is not all in. There may be
a tumor caused by insult but it's not going to be malignant, it's not going
to grow or metastasize.

Interesting analogy, Jeff, but doctor #2 hasn't suggested any behavioral
changes. That would complete the picture.

economic progress, mostly due to jealousy that many others are
smarter than they.

Right. Within seconds of waking up every morning, I start thinking
of ways to stop economic progress. You're a ****ing genius. You
figured this all out. You and Mr. Smirnoff.

You want to control everyone elses choices by removing the choices
that you determine are not in your best interests.

Last week, I considered it to be possible that after almost 75
messages, I could allow that a simpleton could completely screw up
conclusions like this. But, in this case, you're responding to just 3
or 4. Where did you come up with the conclusion above, beginning with
"You want to control...." ? Hint: That was YOUR sentence. You wrote
it.

Bert stated this:

Can you refute Bert's statement?

Bertie took a detour: "You want to control everyone elses choices by
removing the choices that you determine are not in your best interests."
Fight the vodka. Try and stay on the road.

Are you porjecting Dougie.

Nope. You like to pull that standard comment out of your ass whenever it's
convenient. Sadly, it has nothing to do with the subject at hand 99.9% of
the time.

Did you buy a hybrid, any hybrid, vehicle yet? If no, then why are you
waist gasoline instead of money?

That's "waste", not "waist", moron. And, I wasn't in the market for a
vehicle. Again, your addled mind has tossed the words into a paper bag,
shaken it, and spilled the contents onto the floor.

Ooooh, the spelling policeman is at it again. You won't win a spelling bee
either, Moron.

So, you agree with me that anyone can buy any vehicle they desire, thanks
for supporting me and my ilk.

Of course I agree with that, although it's a stupid thing to do. Even if you
do NOT believe in global warming theories, you cannot dispute the fact that
larger engines pollute the air more than smaller ones, assuming both are
properly maintained and other factors are as equal as they can be.

So freakin' what? Who cares?

The bigger the better - MORE POWER!!!

Smog - that's the answer.

Damn Straight!

That's why I am trading in my small 383 ci for a bigger, 440 ci that burns
more fuel and makes more smog.

"Behavioral changes?" What behavioral changes can effect the growth of an
existing brain tumor?

Interesting, but if certain posters here (and I am not hinting you are one
of those) claimed there was no connection between the activities of man
and global warming, I would dismiss those claims out of hand because of
the demonstrated pigheadedness and stupidity of those posters, and the
fact that they have their heads stuck up the butts of the US Chamber of
Commerce.

Or:

The check is in the mail.

Someone stole those WMDs before we could find them.

The federal government picks up its share of the tab for
No Child Left Behind.

Have a nice day.

Your biased opinion of people clouds your judgement of issues. This is
priceless.
