Default Engine Bummer

Well guys, I need your help. I've got a Neptune 1800 with a '94 115hp
Johnson (J115TLERC) and the engines basically gone beyond repair.
Compression of 30 on the 3rd cylinder. The other 3 are much higher. The
engines already been rebuilt and the mechanic says it'd be a waste of
money to try that again.

I'm a poor young professional, but I really want to have a good fishing
boat to keep my life after work fun, and I can't stay away from the
water. The boat is in pretty good shape for an older boat, seems to
still float.

Whats the best thing to do with the boat/engine?

Should I sell the engine separately and buy another engine? If so, how
much will it cost me to buy a nice reliable engine that will work with
my boat?

Should I just sell the whole thing to someone and buy another boat?
