I am trying to purchase a water pump repair kit for an Evinrude 40hp,
2-stroke outboard engine (believed to be 1975). My problem is in identifying the correct type. The engine model number is 405864C, according to the plate - (serial number B 2852). Unfortunately these numbers do not correspond to any publicised in the manual(s), neither can dealers recognise these numbers. Can anyone help to identify the exact part number I will need.? Thanks, WaveTosser |

According to the Parts and Accessories Catalog that dealers receive every year, there are about 15 listings for various models and years of a 40hp, and about 4 different types of impellers. Remove the water pump from the motor and take it to a "savvy" dealer and have them match it up. Parts people may not recognize the what the impeller came from, but a long time OMC outboard mechanic may be able to help identify it. Good luck Bill Grannis service manager |

Only problem is - we don't have any dealers within 100miles so I really need to get this by post - hence the request for part no's. WaveTosser |
