Default OT Low Coolant light came on today!

I let my truck (Babe) run at idle for 1 1/2 hours at operating temp 195

I guess the old girl was just telling me she was a little thirsty ;-) Still,
I'd better keep my eye on her.
It might be time to replace all the hoses this spring. She might as well get
her first tune-up while I'm at it. 167,000 on the original spark plugs and
wires, Wow, who would have thought that back in the late 60's. Heck, most of
the cars were lucky to go that far back then; let alone the plugs, points,
condensers, rotors and caps!
She still gets 16.5 -17.2 MPG just like she did when she was new.
The auto industry really has come a long way in 40 years!
Now, if they could just make a profit :-(

Good, but be careful. I could never see any leak either, just a little residue that
had to be shown to me.

I want my pickup to last 'til I die, maybe another 25 years or so.

My wife's S10 4.3L blazer lost water under normal driving conditions, but
was fine at idle. Was a warped head, from a bad waterpump on a 105 degree
day.

Bad news !! I changed the oil today and it looked a little milky. That does
not bode well for Babe!
I am hoping that was just from the Lucas Oil Stabilizer. If not I had better
be looking in the AutoTrader magazine for a totaled out GMC 4X4 with low
miles so I can swap the engine/tranny and replace some of my damaged
interior trim.
If I can find one for less than 5,000.00 that would be good!

What year. Last engine I bought for my 1989 S10 pickup about 4 years ago
was $600 at a wrecker. You just may need to pull the heads and have them
surfaced. With GM tanking these days, you may be able to buy a new truck
for less than $15k.

It sounds like you've got a bad gasket - head maybe. Doesn't mean the
engine's shot, yet.
