Any Toyota truck will put ANY GM or Ford truck to shame. OK, "dude", surf's up. Let's give it a whirl. Any Toyota truck includes Doug's, so it qualifies, right? Doug's towing capacity is 3500 lbs (snicker), so when he hooks up to Shortwave's boat, the game is all over. It can't safely tow the boat and an ice chest full of fish home. Period. Enter a Ford F150. It can hookup and tow both the boat and the tiny Toy truck home with a 8500 lb towing capacity. I know what I'm about to suggest is completely insane, but were you interested in comparing similar models? A Ford F-150 cannot be compared to a Toyota Tacoma. Who is ashamed now? Is this about shame? Are you aware that there are drugs that can help with the REAL issue you've introduced here? But hey... the Toyota is not a bad vehicle... it will get the groceries, pick up some ice and beer, make a pizza run... oh, you get the idea. But if you need to do some real work, tow some real weight, need a full sized truck, you'll need to look to Ford, GM, or Dodge for your answer. The ricer trucks are getting close to matching the capabilities of a standard American truck,. but can't come close to the abilities af a F-250 or GM 2500 series. Once again... 3500# towing limit? That's not a towing limit... it's a warning... to not try to tow anything! You have to be a moron to own a vehicle capable of towing something you have no intention of owning. |

Still not enough for the macho crowd?...get a Tundra with a V8 that tops out at 7300 lbs. i wouldn't trust any of you towing more than that. |
Tom, tell ya what, you can donate that boat to me and I will let you claim
me as a dependent on your taxes for the next 5 years lol If I were working and making bucks I would buy that boat in a heartbeat. Edward "Shortwave Sportfishing" wrote in message ... I might even throw in a couple of custom made rods and Penn reels if necessary to seal the deal. Note the might. By the by, I mean ONE HELL OF A DEAL. So much so that you could probably take the boat down south and make a couple of thou. I'll trade you a cheese hat, three bags of pretzels, and 2 matched pairs of RCA 6L6's. Some trucks have a funny little stick that puts them into a lower set of gears for slippery situations. However, some people believe the stick's only purpose is for hanging a plastic trash bag. |

Tries to retreive the boat across the only muddy area of the shore. Beach launch. Keeps spinning the wheels and digs himself in deeper. |

And try to tow that 5000# up a hill with that wimpy 6 cylinder. You will make it, in low gear and a crawl. There is lots to be said for Toyotas, but trying to pull 5000# with a small motor is not what you want to do. Short life, and poor performance. My Expedition with a 5.4L 4x4 would tow my 4500# boat up steep grades, but it also suffered from performance in hte mountains. My Duramax gets 20% better milage and does not slow down for those big hills. Towing my daughters 2000 POS 4 dr Explorer home on a UHaul trailer, and averaged 62 mph according to the trip computer, including the Grapevine on I-5 and I do not think I ever towed over 70 coming home. 14.9 mpg also. |

This is probably why someone would opt for the 8 cylinder Tundra instead of the 6. I could be wrong, though. |
