In midsummer 2002 I installed an Eagle Fishmark on my pontoon boot.
Its a great unit. After about two or three uses this year, I have noticed that the depth readings do not work in less than 7 or 8 feet of water. The depth reading blinks or goes to zero. I use a full service marina to paint my boat every year. Could the fact that they painted the bottom of the transducer be causing this? It worked fine the first few times I was out this year. I tried adjusting the transducer and wiping the bottom, but didn't get and diffeent results. I do not have a trailer, so its tough to get at the transducer to see if it is cracked. Also, is it common for this to fail after a season and a half of use. I upgraded from hummingbird to eagle because they are supposed to be the best. I called Eagle and they said to buy another transducer and see if that works, the rep on the phone wasn't much help. They want $80 for a new one, $89 to send the whole unit in for repair. I only paid $135 for the whole unit! Thanks, Fred |
