Default Mercruiser help??

its called a coupler. The last mechanic probally beat the drive back in
place because he though it would NEVER come back to haunt him. He should
have checked it, before re-installing..

It must be aligned!
Engine must be moved to replace coupler.
check out drive shaft for wear at the splines.

I have an 89 carver with twin 3.7lx's Saturday I
lost one drive, pulled it yesterday and found that
the part on the back of the engine with the splines
that drives the shaft to the outdrive is smooth. Splines
are all gone. Can I change this without pulling that
engine? Does anyone know what that part is called?
The marina put a new gimbal bearing in about 4 weeks
ago and looking through the hole it does not appear to
be line up with the engine. Think this caused it??
Thanks for any help

Terry- go back to your dealer, with a very grim look on your face, and
talk to the service manager. Good luck.
