Default How many boats have a marine radio?

"Derek"
I have a hand held, but it stays at home because I believe you can't
use it without a licence, here in Canada. Is this correct?

Maybe I should just stow it for emergencies, and face the concequences
later? The Coast Guard guys are pretty active here in the
Windsor/Detroit area.

I emailed the local Power & Sail club, they said they'd inform me when
a course was available ...... that was a year ago.

Derek I live in Windsor, and courses are available, you just have to sign
up. If you want I can get a contact name for you, let me know and I can
email it to you. I had the Coast Guard on my boat 2 weekends ago for a
volunetary safety check, it's no big deal if you have the VHF radio on board
if you don't have a licence. Even if you intend on just getting weather
forcasts. I'm sure you'd rather have it if there is a problem.
