Default 20 hp merc question........

This motor runs great except once in a while the bottom cyl. will cut out.
It is dead for a few minutes then will sometimes kick right back in and run
great and sometimes sputter before kicking in. I have been told to either
change the coil or the whole power pack which is kind of expensive. Does
this sound like a problem that someone else might have had and could give a
little advise with????
Thanks

Is it possible to swop out the coil, then the power pack with the top
cylinder?. As soon as the top behaves like the bottom did, you've
isolated your problem.

Good Luck.
