Well, when I buy a Sandpiper 565, I know who to call. I've been through all the pics on the Nordic/Halman site and I can't find anything topside that looks like this. I wonder if it's related to the main sail in some way - maybe for single handing raising and lowering the main sail? Quite possible. A number of Sandpiper sailors modified their rigging to include blocks at the base of the mast to lead the halyards aft to the cockpit. I'll be doing same by next spring. With the standard rigging you have to stand at the base of the mast to raise/lower the main. Awkward when singlehanded. |
