You mean the pulleys (blocks) and cleat on the cabin top? If I had to
guess, it's either for the main halyard to be led aft, or for a reefing
line (although if the layards isn't led aft, it makes no sense to lead
the reef line aft).

If you're talking about the squarish thing on the deck just aft of the
shroud chainplate, I don't know. Clearly, it's main function is to trap
dead leaves & pinestraw, but can't see it clearly enough to guess what
it's *supposed* to do.


Also, in this picture, I assume this is for the jibs right?

Yes, that makes sense. It doesn't look like the sheet will run from
there to the winch, though. You might consider getting a low cut genoa
so as to not have to put the block that far aft aft. They sail better
anyway... just pay a little extra for a window in the sail so you can
see where you're going!
