..... I feel for the people that really need things and have to resort to looting... Anyone with a shred of human decency would. ... in fact I would have a hard time calling it looting in some cases. Well, there have been times & places, in some societies, where mothers were put to death for stealing food for their children. IMHO the mask has really come off 'compassionate conservatism' this time, with President Bush promising death to all looters and the Bush-Cheney cheerleaders high-fiving each others stories'bout how dem pore ******s is stealin all de likker. The only thing that's lacking is an announcement from Vice President Cheney that the insurgency in New Orleans is on it's last legs. I was really hoping that most of these people were taking what they needed. I think it's turning out to be that the majority are just thieves. I doubt that, remember that only the most sensationalistic... and in most cases, the most negative... incidents make the news. I'm not surprised that the gun stores were looted, but there are a lot of criminals in the mix. That doesn't make every citizen of New Orleans who is stuck there a criminal who shoots at ambulances. When people start robbing museums, or ripping down power line faster than reconstruction crews can put them up, so they can sell the copper on the black market... *then* you can shake your head and say how bad it is!
