While out today I tried to accelerate from a stop. When I got to 2000-2200
RPM the engine started revving higher and sounded as if something was slipping and I had no more acceleration. Couldn't go fast enough to get on plane even though engine revving about 3000 when slipping. Think prop OK as only a couple of years old and have hit nothing but weeds with it. Any ideas? This has happened before 2 years ago but when I got out of the throttle and then pushed it agin it came right up. |

OR the drive coupler - when was it last changed/checked? Rob |

Randy,
Weeds could be your problem. Not much you can do about that except clean them off your outdrive. Spun props or engine couplers give similar symptoms, except those don't self heal for 2 years. (Not being a smartass...I really just don't know) If it's never happened to you, it's hard to explain. Engine rpm's ramp up, but there is no forward progress because the weeds wrapped around the prop ruin the foil. Usually, an application of reverse to clear the weeds works. Rob |

sounded as if something was slipping and I had no more acceleration. If it was accompanied by a burning rubber smell, it's probably the drive coupler. If not, probably the prop hub. Outdrives are one of the original five simple machines, there's really nothing in there to slip, maybe a few things to break, but that's another story. |
