If gays and lesbians are such proponents of the peace movement, why do they persist in their demands for access to the military? Maybe some knowledgeable liberal could answer that for me. It didn't say gays and lesbians were necessarily big participants in the peace movement, silly. It said the military treats gays and lesbians badly, which is true. Since the city's got a large and politically astute gay population.......do you need any more of an explanation? The peace movement is a big deal in SF. Gays and lesbians are a big deal in SF. I'll bet there's a big overlap. If they are treated so badly, why do they persist in wanting to join the military? Probably for the same reason you did. Why do you assume their patriotic feelings are any different? And, just like the straight population, some join because assuming you don't dead, there are some financial benefits after you escape. |

I hope they - and everyone else - remember their disdain for things military the next time a Richter 9.5 comes strolling down Market. Tell the Engineering Battalions, the Army Medical folks, the National Guard, and - oh yes - FEMA (and their funds), that SF will take care of itself, thank you very much, and you nasty warmonger types can just go on leave somewhere. |

Since the city's got a large and politically astute gay population.......do you need any more of an explanation? These derelicts typically are financial losers for cities. There was a move to do the same thing with the carrier Saratoga in Jacksonville after it was decided to mothball the ship. No matter how the supporters of the idea spun it, they couldn't come up with a plan that was financially feasible without taxpayer subsidy. It's a waste of money. And a waste of valuable waterfront. I wonder why the SF folks didn't realize that and just say so? Dunno, don't have any details of the SF situation regarding the ship. There are far better ways to use the SF waterfront. -- Let's pray the United States survives the rest of Bush's term. Yes, build more condos. More Pier 39's. More resting places for the excess furbags (sealions). |

Amazing how little freeboard the BB's had. I fish next to it at times. Is
in the Moth Ball fleet anchoring area near Martinez. Bill "Gene Kearns" wrote in message ... On Thu, 14 Jul 2005 15:37:58 -0400, "P.
