San Francisco city leaders don't want the USS Iowa in the city.
The Board of Supervisors voted 8-3 on Tuesday against a plan to berth the
World War II era battleship on the city's historic waterfront and turn it
into a museum and tourist attraction.
I hope they - and everyone else - remember their disdain for things military
the next time a Richter 9.5 comes strolling down Market. Tell the
Engineering Battalions, the Army Medical folks, the National Guard, and - oh
yes - FEMA (and their funds), that SF will take care of itself, thank you
very much, and you nasty warmonger types can just go on leave somewhere.
